About Our Citrus
Our Texas Oranges and Grapefruit are unique. Grown in the semi-tropical area of the Rio Grande Valley near the Gulf of Mexico, our fruit enjoy just the right conditions to be exceptional.
The rich delta soils of the Rio Grande River and the climate combine to produce thin-skinned, sweet and very juicy grapefruit and oranges. So full of juice, in fact, that we say they are “heavy” for their size.
Also customary in the southernmost part of the state near the Gulf of Mexico are tropical breezes. These gentle breezes create some “tropical beauty marks” or slight scarring on some fruit. These marks are only on the surface and do not affect the beautiful interior of our grapefruit and oranges. It truly is “what’s inside that counts!”
Texas RED Grapefruit and Oranges from the Edinburg Citrus Association are available from early fall to late spring and are distributed throughout the United States and Canada.
